Sudan’s “Holy” War and the Terrorist’s Attack on America I would like to draw your attention to the terrorism and horror in Sudan. I believe it is imperative that America help stop the genocide and slavery there. The Islamic fundamentalists/terrorists are massacring Christians in that country. This holocaust has already claimed two million lives. Should America—who not only owes everything to God but also desperately needs God’s continued blessing—turn a deaf ear to the cry of God’s very own children? Please read the following message for details.
Possibly God’s Judgment On a Disobedient Nation? America Under Attack! The tragedy on September 11 reminds me how fragile we are under Satan’s attack when God withdraws His protection from us. May it teach us to live more penitently, more soberly, and not to forget to carry out the duty God wants each one of us to carry. When the tragedy happened, I kept asking myself why God allowed this to happen. I have now sorted out the answer. I believe this is a wake up call from God to us. We, the people who live in America, including Christians, have been living in an ivory tower for ourselves for too long. We do not pay enough attention to the suffering people in the rest of the world. Just a few weeks before this tragedy, I watched a video about the persecution in Sudan, “Sudan: The Hidden Holocaust.” This video gave me the answer I sought—the reason behind the tragedy. According to the video (and many articles I read about the situation in Sudan), 2 million Sudanese have been killed for their faith in Christ by the Sudanese government, which is controlled by Islamic fundamentalists. Many more millions have been enslaved and abused. Their children have been taken away from them to be forced/programmed into the Islamic religion. This has been happening for more than 18 years. Yet the world pays little attention to these Sudanese Christians who are being slaughtered and enslaved. The western world maintains an eerie silence till this day. Our news channels do not even cover the story. Why? Because these poor Sudanese Christians have neither wealth nor power nor social status; they are seen as only poor villagers living in a remote area, so people have little interest in them. Our US government was informed about their situation, but our government has not taken it as an urgent and vital issue. The US aid to Sudan has not been distributed properly because of the bureaucracy in the United Nations; instead of going to the suffering people, most of the aid is being distributed to the Sudanese government, and is used to feed the armies that kill innocent Christians. According to a report, the Islamic regime has been linked to terrorist activities since 1983; it has been linked to many major terrorist incidents and is a known terrorist training ground. Thus, unwittingly, the US (and the other like nations) has been financing the terrorist activities of this Islamic regime. If we Americans profess God to be the Lord of our nation, then we have a responsibility to our own brothers and sisters in the Lord, the Sudanese Christians. Their lives are very precious in God’s eyes, because they are God’s very own children; they are His sons and daughters in Christ. I believe now is a vital moment for our nation. If we humble ourselves before God, repent of our sin, and carry out the responsibility God gives us, God will continue to bless us. Otherwise the tragedy on September 11 may only be the beginning of even bigger catastrophes in the near future—because if we do not care about God’s own suffering people and continue live in pride and selfishness, why then should we expect God to bless and protect us? Therefore, in order to save our nation, we MUST humble ourselves before our God, repent of our sin, especially for our negligence of our Sudanese brothers and sisters. We must carry out the responsibility God wants each one of us to carry—to help our suffering brothers and sisters with prayer and with action. Many people compare the tragedy on September 11 with the Pearl Harbor attack. This is very prophetic. Remember, it is through the Pearl Harbor tragedy that God woke up the American people to actively fight against Hitler and his allies. By the same token, I believe God is using this current disaster to wake up the nation and the world also, to remind us that if we do not use our God given prosperity and strength to do justice—to help God’s own suffering people, if we compromise with the power of evil, then we ourselves will become the victim of it, and calamity will fall upon us. Unless the situation in Sudan improves, our nation can have no real peace, because God holds us accountable to help His persecuted people there. To help them is to help ourselves. Thus I urge every Christian in our country: remember our Sudanese brothers and sisters who are being persecuted, pray for them, and open your heart to them. We should also pray for the leaders of our nation, that they may hear God’s voice and follow God’s will to fulfill HIS purpose for this war. We should also pray for all the people who have not yet come to Christ, that some of them may through this disaster find salvation in our Lord. We should pray for ourselves, that we may cling closer to God and be purified through this tragedy, so that in the Great Day of Judgment we may be able to stand before Him and not be found wanting. The action items: 1. Pray everyday for our persecuted brothers and sisters Pray that their faith will remain strong, that they will rely on God as their mighty fortress and hiding place, that they will be comforted, strengthened and sustained by God in the midst of their suffering. Pray that their lives and blood will be like the seeds that fall into the earth to produce a great harvest, that the non-Christians who witness their faith and endurance will see the love and sustaining power of our God and turn to Him, the true Holy God for salvation. Pray that God will wake up the conscience of the Christians in the free world to help and support their suffering brothers and sisters. Pray that God will wake up the conscience of the whole civilized world to see the persecuting power in Sudan—with its ideology of raging war against innocent people (the so called “jihad” or “holy war”), and its practice of terrorism, genocide and slavery—as a gross abomination against human race and a dangerous threat to every life on earth who loves peace and freedom. Pray that this power will be alienated, isolated, defeated and ultimately destroyed, that the war criminals will be brought to justice for their barbaric deeds. Pray that may God’s
will be done, that He may fulfill His purpose through your commitment and
love for Him. 2. Use your God given freedom to speak for them Share the information about the atrocity in Sudan with as many people as you can. It is important to let the whole Christian community and the whole world to know the truth. It is the responsibility of you and me to be the voice for the voiceless. Share the information about the atrocity in Sudan with your pastors and the people in your church. Ask your pastor to show the video, “Sudan: The Hidden Holocaust” to the whole congregation. Share the information about the atrocity in Sudan with the public by purchasing and donating the video, “Sudan: The Hidden Holocaust” to your local public library. (To obtain the video, you can make a purchase online through Persecution Project web site at http://www.persecutionproject.org/video.html.) Make petitions to the President Bush to help stop Sudan’s genocide. 3. Share their burdens Support the disaster relief programs with your finance. Here is a list of organizations that provide humanitarian aids, Bibles and Christian ministries to the persecuted Sudanese people: Persecution Project Foundation Safe Harbor International Relief
